Just Dumb Enough Podcast
Being “Just Dumb Enough” is all about being okay with yourself, and the situation you find yourself in, after you bring up a topic in front of a real expert. My name is Colton Petry, I am the Host of the Just Dumb Enough Podcast, and I‘m your professional idiot. The premise of the show is exposing the general listening audience to topics, careers, experiences, or lifestyles they may otherwise know very little about.

Kindergarten Teacher with Natalie Parmenter

Thursday Dec 22, 2022
It's almost criminal that here in the US we pay teachers so little that our government is currently trying to pass a bill just to get the minimum teaching wage to reach the national average for wages. These are the people responsible for making sure entire generations of kids grow up to be well educated adults, and we aren't even paying them the average?!
Welcome to the Just Dumb Enough Podcast. A show that acknowledges no one is always an expert, by dispelling misconceptions with real experts. I'm your host as always Colton Petry.
My guest today is Natalie Parmenter. Natalie has officially held a degree in teaching for just over ten years, but like most great educators she has spent her whole life being a role model and helping people younger than her learn what she already figured out. Her happiest years were spent with the youngest group of kids to go to school: Kindergartners. And even though Natalie has since left the elementary school in favor of educating all ages with the YouTube Primary Focus ( PrimaryFocus.TV ), she brings an enormous amount of experience and wisdom for parents, grandparents, educators, or even just people work vaguely around kids or teachers.
And I will say that there really is something so gratifying about seeing the lightbulb come on when someone figures out a critical idea. It's so incredible that I literally use it in the official art for this podcast.

Food Tourism with Matthew Gray

Thursday Dec 15, 2022
Let me tell you, as someone who grew up on the great islands of Hawaii, the food is definitely something wonderful. But in thinking about that, many places all around the world have a unique cuisine or style of cooking that should be explored and enjoyed whenever the opportunity arises. So I brought in an expert to explain: Food Tourism.
My guest today is Matthew Gray. Matthew grew up appreciating the art of cooking from his mother, and after exploring the rock and roll scene with The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac, he journeyed to London to study fine dining at a top culinary school. Among many more journeys, which you'll hear about, it eventually led to him opening a food tourism company in Honolulu which ran for 16 glorious years before the pandemic unfortunately shut everything down. His experience offers perspective as a traveler and as an operator, giving us the best tips on how to get the most out of the food scene on any trip you take.
Also apologies for some weird audio difficulties, they should be all ironed out for future episodes and they aren't terribly intrusive here.Remember you can email DumbEnoughPodcast@Gmail.Com or send a message on the social media pages to suggest or request future topics or guests!
For now, Let's try out some strange looking foods!

Loving an Addict with Michaela Canterbury
Monday Dec 12, 2022
Monday Dec 12, 2022
We've had a couple discussions about addiction on this show. One of the first episodes was with Sterling after going through his personal addiction and overdose before getting clean and finding a new, better life for himself. Then an episode with Andrew about the mechanics of rehab and relapse. Now we are approaching it from another angle with my guest today, to see how you can spot, love, and support an addict in your life without enabling their illness further.
Welcome to the Just Dumb Enough Podcast. A show that acknowledges no one is always an expert, by dispelling misconceptions with real experts.
My guest today is Michaela Canterbury. Michaela and her family are made up of high functioning business professionals and elite athletes, so when they discovered a heroin addiction in the family it caught everyone off guard. Isn't this something that only affects people who were lacking opportunity and education? Turns out that's not at all the case, and they had to scramble to establish how their family team was going to deal with this issue. Spoiler alert: Addiction doesn't care about your well laid out plans or good intentions.Things did, fortunately, work out in the end, but the experience as a whole gives Michaela a unique perspective that she can help others with. Today you'll hear the story of her sister and their family from discovery to recovery. Hopefully it can help shed light on the reality of addictions reach and the ways you can help.

Costume Jewelry with Vicki le Mere
Thursday Dec 08, 2022
Thursday Dec 08, 2022
This will probably come with little surprise: I have no grasp on jewelry or it's trends. But even with my very limited point of view I can see a lot of value in buying accessories that look like diamonds and sapphires without the price tag or guilt. And I have just the person to reinforce that opinion today!
Welcome to the Just Dumb Enough Podcast. A show that acknowledges no one is always an expert, by dispelling misconceptions with real experts.
My guest today is Vicki le Mere. Vicki has been designing jewelry for Hollywood stars for since 1984. Those nearly four decades of experience have taught her a lot about the market trends and tastes of people who purchase jewelry in general. It's also displayed the fine line between jewelry inspired by a design, and a knockoff or fake replica of an exact design. Do you know where that line sits? She's also done a host of other jobs from acting to private investigating, which we discuss briefly towards the end.
Remember you can email DumbEnoughPodcast@Gmail.Com or send a message on the social media pages to suggest/request future topics or guests!
