Just Dumb Enough Podcast
Being “Just Dumb Enough” is all about being okay with yourself, and the situation you find yourself in, after you bring up a topic in front of a real expert. My name is Colton Petry, I am the Host of the Just Dumb Enough Podcast, and I‘m your professional idiot. The premise of the show is exposing the general listening audience to topics, careers, experiences, or lifestyles they may otherwise know very little about.

Dieting Correctly with Amy Fox
Monday Jan 23, 2023
Monday Jan 23, 2023
Have you ever heard of a "Mocktail"? I hadn't before speaking to my expert, and I'm a light social drinker at most, but now that I know you can substitute a little hard alcohol for a full on dessert; gaining the benefits of fruits and losing the effects of inflammation, I'm certainly going to try it.
My guest today is Amy Fox. Amy is a master nutritionist, a mom, and an endurance athlete. And the way she speaks about altering your diet makes more sense than any website I've ever read that advocates for a single diet. Instead Amy looks at things through all these complex lenses to see what's just a fad, what will definitely work for some groups of people, and what just needs tweaks to attain success. She's not pushing any crazy agenda to compile a list of foods you now can't eat, instead offering her expertise on which things you could add more of to feel better.Make sure to give Amy some applause for still showing up and doing the show while sick, on a week where I had three other guests cancel for the same reason.
Let's make easy changes for easy weight loss!

TED Training with Reesa Woolf
Thursday Jan 19, 2023
Thursday Jan 19, 2023
Talking to an audience or in public can be harder for some people than others. According to an recent psychological study: 30% of the general population has a truly clinical level fear of public speaking. Given that information, you should already feel better about yourself. Now wait until you hear from my expert about how you too can get in front of some of the most intense audiences on the planet.
My guest today is Reesa Woolf. Reesa professionally trains speakers to give TED Talks. You know, those giant stages where people give impassioned speeches about their major discoveries or life changing theories? Yeah, she trains those people how to speak to crowds. I really don't know how much more info is necessary to sell you on her credentials, but she also has over two decades of trainer time under her championship level belt. Her goal is to teach everyone how to get over the fear of public speaking at any level and become an excellent speaker in all aspects of their life. Reesa is also a fan of the show and it was great having her come to me with the background she has and the training she does.
Let's get ready to share our voices!

Safer Schools with Daniel Dluzneski
Monday Jan 16, 2023
Monday Jan 16, 2023
Light content warning! We are discussing bomb threats and active shooters with my expert today. We aren't graphic or unnecessarily crude, but the topic and conversation can be a bit intense for some members of the audience.
Welcome to the Just Dumb Enough Podcast. A show that acknowledges no one is always an expert, by dispelling misconceptions with real experts. I'm your host as always Colton Petry.
My guest today is Daniel Dluzneski. Daniel worked with the Secret Service for 24 years! Let's just acknowledge the incredible service record on that alone. He was part of the team that protects the highest ranking member of our government for over two straight decades! From all accounts the Secret Service is one of the most particular in the world when it comes to picking their officers. Not only that, but he was part of the bomb unit, partnered with a service dog, and directly responsible for the safety of the Presidents, Vice Presidents, and their families.I'd have thought the man would want a break after all that, but instead he took his talents over to the public school systems to ensure our nations children were being better protected at a time when it's all we hear about on the news.
Daniel has now written a book called "The First Five Minutes: A school shooting survival guide for administrators and teachers" and is trying to get everyone involved in the conversations that can reduce tragedies anywhere in the world.
Let's hope for the best, and prepare for the worst.

Professional Image with Taj Shotwell
Thursday Jan 05, 2023
Thursday Jan 05, 2023
There's always THAT person somewhere in the workplace. They act like they know everything and are critical of anyone who doesn't immediately bow to their advice like it's gospel. They're also the same person who winds up complaining that they can't seem to advance in their career and eventually quits when it becomes obvious they'll never get anywhere in the company. It happens in every field, from cubical spaces in an office building to coliseum stages with world class musicians.
Welcome to the Just Dumb Enough Podcast. A show that acknowledges no one is always an expert, by dispelling misconceptions with real experts. I'm your host as always Colton Petry.
My guest today is Taj Shotwell. Taj has been an educator for most of her life and has begun to channel that energy towards helping young people learn from the mistakes of the rich and famous. And that's the core lesson to take away: Learn from the failures of others. There are so many out there who have screwed up so spectacularly that they became known at least in part for those mistakes. We as humans have the ability to take that information in, and use it to avoid similar pitfalls in our personal lives.Being entirely honest: I struggled keeping this interview on track, it's probably one of the shortest I've done, and it ends pretty abruptly when my guest just has nothing left to say. You'll hear at least one portion where the response to my statement was a single word not really near the mic.
I had a listener correct me on my episode count, the trailer is in fact not an episode despite the effort that went into it, so the next episode is actually episode 100! I promise I'm trying to do something extra special for all of you.In the mean time, if you're an expert in anything at all and want to share, email DumbEnoughPodcast@Gmail.Com or send me a message on any of the social media pages!
For now, Let's see how we can learn from failure.

Succeeding in Life with Noah St John
Monday Jan 02, 2023
Monday Jan 02, 2023
There are a million books and speakers out there telling you how to succeed, but have you ever given yourself permission to succeed? That's what my expert asked me that had me speechless. Why would I not permit myself to succeed. Surely all the information out there must just be a scam because we can't all be in our own way... Right?
Welcome to the Just Dumb Enough Podcast. A show that acknowledges no one is always an expert, by dispelling misconceptions with real experts. I'm your host as always Colton Petry.
My guest today is Noah St John. Noah is known as "The Father of Afformations" and "Mental Health Coach to the Stars"! He's developed and refined his process over the last nearly three decades, helping Hollywood Celebrities, Professional Athletes, Millionaire CEOs, and people just like you and me.His goal is to help us all reclaim hours in our days, days in our months, and weeks in our years. Quite literally giving us an extension on our lives. And on top of all that he was a genuinely nice and fun person to chat with.

New Year and New Month, so time to start the January rankings. I'll say now that there has been a major shake up:1. Australia! and this is wild, because as long as I've been a show the United States has always been top downloaded, but not right now. Australia is led to the top by New South Wales.2. The United States. Weird as it is to see it here, it is currently led by top states Florida and Washington.3. The United Kingdom.4. Mexico. What is happening?5. Germany. Finally working their way back to the top 5 and led by Niedersachsen.
That's it for today. I'll see you all Thursday!

Thursday Dec 29, 2022
Have you ever had a bad boss? Someone who couldn't figure out how to do their job with a manual in front of them. Or a coworker who just couldn't get invested in doing their job, and ends up dragging everyone else on the team down with them. That happens to all of us, all of the time. After that happens, the struggling company calls in a person like my expert today.
Welcome to the Just Dumb Enough Podcast. A show that acknowledges no one is always an expert, by dispelling misconceptions with real experts. I'm your host as always Colton Petry.
My guest today is Tiana Sanchez ( TianaSanchez.com ). Tiana owns and operates an organizational training and development firm. In short: She helps people lead better, work better, and be happier where they are. Whether fixing bad bosses or encouraging positive culture, Tiana gives her all for the good of employers and employees.

The United Kingdom.3. Canada, with Ontario firmly holding the top province spot.4. Australia, barely led by New South Wales.5. New Zealand, just barely beating Germany by one third of a percent.
