Just Dumb Enough Podcast
Being “Just Dumb Enough” is all about being okay with yourself, and the situation you find yourself in, after you bring up a topic in front of a real expert. My name is Colton Petry, I am the Host of the Just Dumb Enough Podcast, and I‘m your professional idiot. The premise of the show is exposing the general listening audience to topics, careers, experiences, or lifestyles they may otherwise know very little about.

Carpal Tunnel and Hands with Dr. Terry Zachary
Monday Feb 20, 2023
Monday Feb 20, 2023
All I have to say is "Carpal Tunnel" and people will start rubbing their wrists and hands. It's become a nightmare that most of us live in fear of developing. But it's not a definite outcome. You can actively avoid it with as little as one minute per day.
My guest today is Dr. Terry Zachary. Our fine doctor started as a sports chiropractor and has spent his fair share of time as a professional golfer as well. He's here to discuss the mechanics of our hands in an honestly simple way.
You'll know more in the first five minutes of this interview than most people know about their own hands. Not to mention you'll learn solid tips to keep you from developing these repetitive grip injuries that we are all prone to.
Let's keep our hands from breaking down!

Meditation with Shai Tubali
Thursday Feb 16, 2023
Thursday Feb 16, 2023
I know I call myself dumb, but I didn't think I was going to be completely blindsided by meditation. You sit, close your eyes, and think about just breathing, right? It seems pretty easy as a concept. But apparently I'm wrong. And not just a little wrong, but grossly incorrect. It can be done with your eyes open, with a sound or phrase, and even while walking.
My guest today is Shai Tubali. Shai is a Meditation Teacher, Yogi, and Psychosocial Method Developer. He's here today to help us better understand the wide world of meditation, how anyone can do it, and the benefits it can bring to your life.
With over twenty years in practice, and a new book covering the 35 different meditation practices from around the world, I think Shai is the perfect guest to help us all understand.Any listeners looking to come on the show can reach out to me at DumbEnoughPodcast@Gmail.Com
Let's find our deeper self in the here and now.

Crooked Government with Debbie Peterson
Thursday Feb 09, 2023
Thursday Feb 09, 2023
Let's not play pretend here; with power comes an abuse of that power. It doesn't need to be gambling on human suffering for personal profit, it can be as simple as suggesting you should be seated first or get a discount just because you have a specific job. If you've earned respect, those things might just happen. But as my expert today explains, asking for that special treatment may not be simply immoral, but actually illegal.
My guest today is Debbie Peterson. Debbie was the first directly elected, female mayor of Grover Beach, California, and is the author of "The Happiest Corruption: Sleaze, Lies, and Suicide". The title alone should hook you enough to listen to this episode if nothing else.An important note: This episode relates to local, smaller government. It's not about how messed up our congress and senate can be. I'll have to find a different guest for that topic, as well as how governments function in other countries.
Anyone with experience or a recommendation can reach out to me at DumbEnoughPodcast@Gmail.ComAlso, sorry for the less clean than normal audio on my end. This new studio space is turning out to be a lot more work than I had originally thought it would be. Nevertheless! I'm fixing it and it shouldn't give us more issues going forward.
This is a lofty goal, but Let's end government corruption!

Wage Gaps with Mia Smithson
Monday Feb 06, 2023
Monday Feb 06, 2023
Wouldn't we all like to make $30,000 more per year? My expert today tells us how some can accomplish just such a goal. Fortunately for the female audience, it's entirely attainable. Unfortunately that means you're probably also being grossly underpaid.
My guest today is Mia Smithson. Mia is a global director of talent management, responsible for hiring and development across seven countries. Her journey here started when she realized she was being underpaid by tens of thousands of dollars per year, and led her to develop the $30k Program. It's goal is to help women get out of their underpaying jobs and into careers that they love and will pay they like they're valued. If you are a guy like myself listening to this and wondering if it can help you, Mia gives quite a few tips that are totally universal. So stick around!
Let's negotiate for better pay!

Babies and Moms with Dr. Alan Lindemann
Thursday Feb 02, 2023
Thursday Feb 02, 2023
They say you hone your skills by doing the same things over and over until you've perfected it. But what does that say for my expert today who, to date, has delivered over 6,000 babies without a single mother lost in the process?
My guest today is Dr. Alan Lindemann. Dr. Lindemann is an Obstetrician and Gynecologist and began his career delivering babies over 45 years ago. And with that nearly half century of experience, he's here shares details on what can lead to better health outcomes, common issues, and conversations no one has with their doctors while pregnant.
Lots of great information for people who want to have kids, are curious about the process, are expecting especially, or maybe even those who've already been through it and want to reminisce on how they managed to do this despite a lack of information.( RuralDocAlan.Com )
Let's make sure every baby and mother is as healthy as they can be!

Racism and Bias with Braeden Anderson
Monday Jan 30, 2023
Monday Jan 30, 2023
What is racism? What is Bias? When asked the questions, my expert would say that it's filling in the gaps of your knowledge with negative assumptions. Is the sweaty athlete a poor student? Does the person with the tattoo sleeve have a criminal record? Has the host of this show ever worked a day in his life, or is he just another bum with a podcast? No matter your answer, if you don't have hard data on that person, your making a guess and including a whole heaping helping of bias and/or racism.
My guest today is Braeden Anderson. Braeden became known for being the first person EVER to Play NCAA Basketball while also going to law school, which isn't easy by any stretch and require a school willing to let him try. But even before that struggle Braeden was growing up in an openly racist province of Canada, which I didn't know was still an issue beyond the 2000s.And that's probably not the only thing you'll be surprised to hear. There are a lot of unseen struggles for people of all kinds, but it can be especially disheartening for certain demographics when they aren't given a chance to break the stereotype. That's just part of the message Braeden is here to share with us, in telling his story. There was some audio issues with the file, but I did my best to normalize volume and repair mics cutting out, it drops off pretty early and shouldn't effect the overall listen much... hopefully.
Let's check our own preconceived notions about what's what.

Still led by Victoria, better luck next month New South Wales.4. Canada, with Ontario holding out as top province.5. New Zealand.

Modern Caveman Brains with Dr. Betsy Holmberg
Thursday Jan 26, 2023
Thursday Jan 26, 2023
You have caveman brains. Don't worry, we all do. It's part of our brain's make up that formed back when not fitting in meant certain death. But now we live in an advanced age with modern luxuries and that same part of our brain causes us an endless amount of suffering. So join my expert and I as we explore how we can turn it off.
My guest today is Dr. Betsy Holmberg ( betsyholmberg.com ). Our good doctor has worked on psychology at Duke and published research at Harvard, so you know she's very good at what she does. And what she does best is prove to people that the automatic thoughts and response that you have you have going on in your head every day of your life are not only provably false, but actively harming you. And this isn't about thinking you're always awesome or perfectly performing tasks. Your brain on it's best behavior doesn't do that unless you're a psychopath or a narcissist.Honestly, by the end of the episode you're going to listen to me experience an epiphany in real time. And it's probably the same one you're going to have after hearing it because it's too simple to not engage with!
Let's silence that outdated chunk of brain!
